Mandatory Vehicle Inspection Starts on 1/1/2004

 

The ministry of Interior and Municipalities, in keeping with its policy to provide to the public safer roads and a cleaner environment, announces the following:

  1. As at 1/1/2004, motor vehicles are subject to a mandatory inspection procedure, as follows:

o  once a year for vehicles with a gasoline engine that are more than 3 years old;

o  once a year for motorcycles;

o  once every six months for vehicles with a diesel engine.

 

  1. Vehicle owners must get their vehicles inspected (follow this link to know when) at one of the following authorized vehicle inspection centers :

o  Hadath Center–Saïda old road (Kafaat Institute) and Jamous road– Telephone: 05/ 463 463;

o  Ghazieh Center– Saïda – Facing Zahrani refinery – Telephone: 07/ 220062;

o  Zahlé Center – Near the civil Defense and the new governmental hospital – Telephone: 08/ 809 650;

o  Mejdlaya Center – Near The Traffic, Trucks and Vehicles Management Authority – Telephone: 06/ 379 000;

 

  1. Authorized vehicle inspection centers are open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays.

 

  1. Vehicle inspection fees are as follows:

o  for vehicles weighing less than 3.5 metric tons: 32.650 Lebanese pounds.

o  for vehicles weighing more than 3.5 metric tons: 87.900 Lebanese pounds.

 

  1. When paying their yearly registration (mécanique) fees, vehicle owners must produce a statement from an authorized vehicle inspection center certifying that their vehicle has passed the mandatory vehicle inspection procedure.
